Looks like a stinker, with unknown locations and methods of entry. I’ve done a dozen clues, but no idea where to put anything! The 11’s will help eventually

Knew our background would come in handy one day.
Thank you Hedge-sparrow.
Might just disagree over a hyphen, but hey ho!

Not a favourite subject of mine but thanks as ever, tatters.
For me, quite a few of the clues are unfair given the entry 'tweaks' (though they work well enough for the theme) and that made the fill a chore - I didn't enjoy it.

For 20, I can’t find a jumble that is a real word. Could it be several smaller words?

I have an answer for 26 but can’t parse three letters in the middle of it. Tips please

Dylan, for 20, we have 2 words (last bit of preamble). Think something to do with aerials. Sorry if that’s oblique.
For 26, rather nice anagram. Look up alternative definitions of eye, then look up alternative definitions of your 3 letters. They should correspond, then add final letter.

Thanks Simple Simon. I didn’t realise eye had another meaning.

Making good progress now, although I’ve managed to enter both answers for 37 in the same way, so somethings wrong!

I’m now much more optimistic than I was last night!

Dylan, re your 37. You are not wrong. It’s not the direction that changes in this instance, just the area of the grid wherein it’s entered. Related to the properties of the sets.

Yet another puzzle requiring lots of cold solving before progressing with the grid-fill. I think the theme relates to my favourite school subject and the nature of the entries to the second set of clues, plus the number of circles seem to confirm this. Lots more work required!
