I'd never heard of MDI. A rather obscure reference for non-Indian solvers, IMHO.

Also, I would argue that the "The" at the beginning is unnecessary.

Keepers, thanks. I know you'd said you'd appreciate hints, but that proved impossible for me - because of that middle bit, the school stuff. I often forget that these clues aren't from British publications - and they're sometimes not as fastidious as ours!

Please help me in parsing / solving this cryptic clue -
" Nurse pulling out of shift to wander (5)"

I think this is a 4 letter word for nurse (as in bring up a child or animal) removed from the beginning of a 9 letter word for shift, to give a word for wander (or as Chambers says, to rove freely).

Bharat, I think the definition is 'organ', or actually a part of the human body. 'Noble' (4) + an award.
