Help with the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction. Aim to be helpful, aim to avoid spoiling the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

I'm enjoying nibbling my way through this, but having real problems with 11. I have 12, and a candidate for 11, but can't see any way that "thrash" is involved. Any gentle tips welcome

Tough puzzle! I thought this was both very clever and very enjoyable.

Just getting stuck into this and slow progress so far. Can I check that "entered cyclically inwards or outwards" means the first letter doesn't have to be in the outermost or innermost cells?

Thanks Candledave, I think I see what you're referring to, but sadly I can't manage to use that to find the solution!

I’m a little confused by the name count. I can identify 11 in the initial grid (one of which is not a complete entry and goes away after the last step). I have 12 in my final version, which works (I’m a bit dubious about one that is not like the others). I’m also not sure how the biblical reference is necessary or helpful.
