I thought that the name spelled by the misprints is the same name that goes in the middle, with the thick line marking the beginning and end of the name.

There must be a link that connects the group together and with the Scripture, besides the most general thing that they have in common. “The remaining” suggests a discrete set, but I can’t find a connection through Googling.

Googling the group will not help find what links them, Riversk. There is a remaining PDM which will resolve matters for you

Full grid and 10 names highlighted. I'm now stuck at: 'the name identified by extra letters from wordplay'. I have 20 letters which appear gobbledegook except for one 7-letter word (starting letter 4) which doesn't help. Have I misunderstood something?

It sounds like you may have some incorrect extra letters, but see my post #16, Mack. The message imitates one of the entry methods

A well-judged puzzle. It helps a lot to work out what's going on in the outer rings, and then again later to see the connection between the names.

The endgame is unexciting, but that's ok.

I'm afraid, I'm losing patience with this puzzle. Rings rotated as instructed and no obvious names appear. It's just a bit too fiddly for me. Pity, because the logic involved in solving and placing the clues was very rewarding. Congratulations to those who have finished it.

Are you sure that the name identified by extra letters from wordplay appears in the asterisked cells, and not in a straight line? If it does the names should appear

If you're stuck, I suggest stepping back and working out what the missing names are - I'd be surprised if you don't have the knowledge to do that.

I've just come back to it and it's staring me in the face. I even had the two names and didn't make the connection. Duh!
