Thanks Dodgepot, clue 5 drove me up the wall, I was convinced it was an anagram of TASER + L, so you will realise that led me up a series of dead ends trying to sort out 5 & 6.

I’m glad I never thought of that. It’s never easy to abandon plausible ideas that turn out to be wrong

Gitto - It took me a long time to realise that the message from those clues with extra letters is cycled and that the first three letters belong at the end. So I reckon that, likewise, the three words created by the corrections to the misprints are also cycled and should be entered in the order 2, 3, 1. I just wish I'd thought of that before I mailed my entry off to Pontefract!

Have finally completed it - not without a struggle - but just can't parse 23, even though I'm confident I had the right answer. Can anybody enlighten me?

Otempora, first word is the definition. First three letters are “attention of”. Remove L for latitude and the extra letter from flyer (aviator) to give the last three.

Dodgepot, yes, that gets to the answer but, being ultra-picky, it's not quite the intended strict Ximenean construction of the wordplay, in which the first three letters just mean "attention" as per the Chambers entry. The "of" then goes with "flyer" to get the adjectival meaning "of flyer" - which Chambers shows in the same entry as the noun. Listener eds are very hot on this!

Enjoying this - initially thought cyclical meant one inward one outward, one inward and so on. i now think cyclical only refers to the wrap-around and the order of the non-jumbles is not necessarily in-out-in. Am I right? I don't want to trawl through the posts in case I see any other hints. Thanks
