The clue definitely doesn’t rise to the level of the young lady herself.

Thanks Jigjag

I thought it was a brilliant topical clue. We have had "U" in the Times, as well as texts, so it is certainly allowed.

You were right to forecast the drama, and predict the result. Well done.

Thanks for your high mark, very kind of you. I would have settled for a pass mark of 4 out of 10.

I must apologise for the ugly U in the clue. I know you are a fan of tennis and texts. I was going to send you a text with the clue, when I realised that I don't have a mobile phone, and I don't know how to send a text anyway. So I thought I should post it here. I hope you enjoyed watching the match.

That's very kind of you. I hope that knowing the result did not spoil it for you.

I particularly liked the surface. Really enjoyed the match.

I didn't like the surface. I prefer grass.

Major blemish in the Raducanu victory speech: 'I hope me and Laylah put on a good show...'

How's that for nitpicking?

Maths and Economics clearly the wrong A Levels for her.

Anyway, well done, Emma!

Yes it was disappointing to hear that.

On reflection I forgive Emma. Her sloppy use of "me" instead of "I" followed the similar style in Jigjag's tennis clue. Clearly she must have seen the clue before going on court and decided to use it later.

Jigjag, glad you don't mind the deduction in your score. It was good of you to come up with a timely clue, just a pity I took my eye off the ball and didn't spot that immediately.

The match was great, quite thrilling - and not quite as straightforward as the final score makes it appear. I didn't mind Emma's 'Me and Leylah... ' too much. I think my grammar might suffer if I had just been given a cheque for such a vast amount.
