Paul...., no - it's the homophone I don't like!

I'm quite pedantic but I don't object to that alleged homophone.

Perhaps I don't talk proper.

Thanks, Paul... That homophone is too much of a stretch for me - there's no R in any of my sauces.

Source with an audible R sounds a bit west country.
Perhaps I do talk proper after all. 😄

Paul, I'd been tempted to say that perhaps you talked TOO proper - the R in Bath, Path and after the W in Drawing, are perfectly normal in parts of the country, parts where they think they're talking perfectly properly!

Malone, I would love to hear you say: around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran.

The homophone works for me. I make cheddar sauce - with 2 Rs. I also have drawring-room with 3 Rs.

Not happy with Times today : Appeal = It, and since when is a pasty a pie?

I was surprised to hear about the allegations against you on another thread. I cant imagine that there was anything in it, so I was pleased that the referee ruled in your favour.

Do you really eat cheese sauce with your pie in the drawing-room?

IT for (sex) appeal has long been a crossword staple along with SA. Chambers has the definition.

Also in Chambers pasty is defined as a pie. In trying to find PASTIE as an alternative I was intrigued to see only PASTIES, defined as nipple decorations and apparently having no singular form.
