17,21,27 and 28 (apart from 20,9) are 9's and have wordplay but no definition

21 is a 9 but also ( see many previous posts) has a non-9 meaning which is defined in the clue.

I have finally finished but 17 and 26 see to clash.. Thought I had the correct answers to both but obviously not! Does 26 start with 'h '.

Help please. My answer for 4D has an R as the last-but-one letter. Can anyone confirm please? The problem would then be that 12Ac ends with R, which doesn't fit with "encased" as an anagram + a 9.

i don't have the puzzle to hand but R can be a 9.

Still cannot parse 20,9. is definition the last 7 words? is it UK related?
If not, a pointer would help.
