Eh, 11ac - first 3 letters "to and ---" last letter the head of gear. That was my thinking anyway.

11a - I'd say both teenieleek and manu have suggested valid wordplays. It was driving me hopping mad thinking of one.

Regarding 21a, I agree that the answer is a 9, with "hung drawn" being the major cryptic element. But where is the definition?
The alternative is to take the first 8 words as the definition but then you need to insert more than 20 9 into the anagram of the last word.

Any thoughts?

I have a different word for 21d. But no letters at 27 and 29 to confirm. In my solution, the 4th letter is an O and not an A, and it's a synonym for "devastating raids".
If I had 27 and 29, it would probably prove me wrong... I don't know

But now I realise I'm wrong. Your word sounds right. An anagram of raids with a Seattle-like 2-letter 9d, and a long long definition.

I´ve been reading all your comments but still have no idea about 20,9. Does the long word end in w? or what is the long word?

No, actually stupid me. My latest post doesn't make sense. I'm tired. I'll take a break from this crossword. It's giving me spots

Sid48, there's no definition for 27ac either.
21 - anagram of raids + a 9?

No definition for 17d either. The solution (if I'm right) is a 9, and no 9 required in the wordplay.
21a, if the answer is a 9, has two possible wordplays, one requiring a 9 (anagram of last word), the other not (first 8 words).
Any hints for 27a?

I'm finding this month's Genius a bit of a slog. A couple of loose ends. In 10ac, I can see the 20,9 element but how does the rest of the clue work? There's been some discussion about 21dn but I can't I can't come up with a convincing parsing. Can anyone help?
