Thanks eagle. Hadn't ever heard the definition expressed like that. Have now seen the 'in'. Hadn't heard of the second synonym, but can now see it from googling.

Re googling for clues, yes, something like this works pretty well.

I have three to go, all in the SW. Is the definition for 14d the last two words? There appear from the crossers only two likely options for the first word of the answer.

Rocky, 21d refers to a geographic region. Parses as a reversal. Took me a long time to solve.

14d definition is the last two words. It's an anagram. I solved/parsed but then had to Google the answer.

Rocky7, you’re right about the definition of 14d. It’s an anagram (for treating) of the first word minus one letter (drug) plus the fourth and a one-letter-abbreviation of the fifth.

I too have three unsolved. It’s a very satisfying puzzle – thanks, Vlad! – but any hints for 18d, 23 or 25?

18d defin "writer", parses as 4 inside 2 where 2 is a truncated word.

23d def "where to see pictures" parses as 2,3 where the 2 and 3 are standard crossword elements.
