I found this much easier than usual, but still very enjoyable; thanks, Brendan. I share the other Brendan's doubts about 4a, but I don't feel it's a big deal. I can't believe that Brendan would set a puzzle in which every clue but one is thematic, but, alone among all yhe clues, I can't see how the theme comes into 19d. Any help, anyone?

I didn't really understand 9a. Is "treehouse" just a complicated term for something usually called somerthing else? If that's it, I don't think it's very good!

Feeling very dim in the face of all this discussion - after a quick start mostly in the NW corner, I’m bemused by many of the clues. I feel as if 8d must be obvious - certainly nobody’s mentioned it - to everyone except me! And clearly 10 across is pivotal, but don’t even know where to start with it! All or any nudged, prompts welcome!

...and letters 2-5!

1d and 19d are both doubly thematic

That's true Rocky, I'd forgotten that. On many occasions I've seen 'Monet's the ..' or similar.

Also, and I know it seems like I'm picking specifically on this clue but I promise that's not the case, but the clue seems to be saying that "wood from elsewhere" is "holding old" - otherwise why "holding"? if it's just for surface then why choose a verb teeming with meaning to solvers of cryptic puzzles? Why not "Player 'with' old wood from ...... '

Anyway, they're my thoughts:-)

It's often "Nancy" or "Nice"!
