Hi Bobs,

4a - the definition is "player" - one who plays an instrument.

Wordplay is 1,4,1 beginning with "old" and the 4 being the subject of my earlier posts.

Also found it relatively easy compared to other Brendan puzzles. However I'm stuck on 4ac and 26ac. Helpful hints much appreciated.

4a has been much discussed above.
26a definition "twigs". "Bright" seems superfluous, though I suppose it makes the surface better.

Bren, @49 regarding “holding” in 4a…I had the exact the same thought. Agree “with” is far better.
