Well spotted jono. That's confirmed my unparsed 16a.

Not at all sure of my 18a. Can't see where "mercury" fits, and blade is very loose if my answer is right - I would have thought that a blade should have more of an edge.

Enigmatist has set 124 puzzles for the Guardian (data courtesy of xteddy), but add in his puzzles for the FT (Io) and Independent (Nimrod) and it’s not inconceivable he’s reached this number.

What a nightmare! Wondering if I have 1a right as I don't get ChrisE's reference to Thursday .... is there an anagram of one of the words in the clue in there somewhere? Even if I solve 1a I still have many more unsolved!

I wrote in 1a because the first word of the solution was in a very recent daily puzzle. I think that's what chris is referring to.

Well done on theme, jono. I'd scanned for a theme but struck out.

As ChrisE cannot see how mercury fits with 18a

18a is a double definition

Late to the party as my weekend routine has changed.
FOI 1 for exactly the same reason (and prompting the same query) as Chrise.
LOI 20 which it took me a while to tumble to.
Hadn't spotted the theme, as I rarely look out for them. Thanks to those who did: very clever and displaces any search by me for a COD - like geeker my head hurts too much to go over it again.

Tricky old puzzle today.

Quite a few unparsed:

16 mostly
First three letters of 19
Both 18 & 20 - I'm assuming both to be correct here, mind you. Both seem loose?

Good grief, it wasn't just the first word of 1 that was repeated from two days prior. Bit sloppy, but it was a big help. 🤣
