Early days yet, but I really struggle to see what to do with the dates in 12ac. Are they meant to indicate an event then?

Another puzzle absolutely worthy of being a Listener crossword. Just as well that I had nothing else to do on this fine spring morning!

Thanks RHSL, I now have an answer which makes sense, except for not referring to films - I can't see how they fit in

can anyone throw any discreet light on the Fanatic clue - 30ac

I only have 8 clues to solve, but my grid has lots of empty cells in it! I am struggling to fit the trapdoor, spinning and jumping clues at the moment.

Aspria, 30ac is a Waldensian teacher according to Chambers.

Thank you for this hint Candledave, I had the right answer but the wrong parsing.

Any scintilla of a hint on 4,32,39,7,10,21,23, or 26 (and I sincerely hope that they are all down) would reduce my abject misery at staring at these clues and/or the grid!
