Lemon, I’m often travelling, so a portable printer and an iPhone are all I need now. No hard copies of reference books for me.

The only other site on Safari you might need is Quinapalus Word Matcher, (or Chambers Word Wizard) if you have several letters of an answer. That, and the occasional foray to Wikipedia, is all you need for 98% of Listener puzzles, imho.

After, reluctantly, erasing my grid and starting again I have actually managed to finish this masterpiece. My problem was placing beta in the wrong position. How Sabre dreams these up is beyond my comprehension and then to actually execute the idea is totally unbelievable.

Google AI caused a momentary panic at the very end, but then there are more than one (thankfully).

Close but not quite there and must have made a mistake somewhere as I can’t find a path for my jumping 29, while there’s big unfilled gap early on in the second row of the grid…

Only clues remaining are 4 and 37 though, so any further hints appreciated (previous one for 4 didn’t help me I’m afraid…)

The continuation for 29 is in the NE corner if that helps.

4 is the international abbreviation for South Africa containing a 'stake' .

37, think of a prohibition era word for guns (minus the last letter) and add an anagram.
