Sorry Roof, I took so long writing my post I missed yours. I see you do know the band and I'm pleased to know you were and are a fan of Mick and the boys 😜

Many thanks PDS

All finished now. I'd never have got 1d or 23d without your help. The others I should have got earlier. I still haven't understood the parsing for 17d, but I'm sure it is right.

My FOI as I said earlier was 15ac, closely followed by 23ac. My LOI was 23d and my FOI and after all that I think my favourite was 23 ac closely followed by 24d and 25ac

Thanks as ever to all the contributors to this thread.

17D: If you add a 1 letter "fellow" in front of the first letter of the 2nd word you get "when winter comes in New York"

Hi all. Thanks for all the hints, but I’m still struggling with the last two -
21 & 27
(Liked 18A for its simplicity & misdirection)

Thanks from

21: where do you put things before you cook them on a hob (2, 1, 3) containing a 1 letter abbreviation.

27: 2 letter "very" containing 3 letter "extremely affected", like a bad actor + 2 letter abbreviation for something you might put in the bank.

... and 27A is a slang term for a celebratory drink (looks like that stumped a lot of people already, including me!), which you definitely should not drink normally!

The “banker” is a river. A crossword favourite ;-)

Ah ok, I was complaining about that use of banker last Vlad crossword lol.

It's also something you can put in a bank (abbreviated), which you buy from a certain place (same abbreviation), mainly to send off to Blue Peter and the like, if you didn't have a chequebook.
