Hi PS,

1a - Your U is in the wrong place - 5 letter "goes" + 3 letter "mine"

1d - Your letters are correct - 3 letter "figure" reversed/'rising' the 3 letter "crime" - definition is last 3 words.

btw not many kitchens have had this item for centuries!

Right I see the other soldiers now (I was a bit suspicious of the soldiers I had to be honest, more like peacekeepers), don't think that word was in the missing letter solver on this site. (Correct, it is not in, nor is it in Chambers online, but I know the word though), surprised the one beginning with U was in it sounds wrong really.

Gonna have a bit more of a think before going back to the missing letters solver for the last 2.

I was going to comment earlier that a 1a is more likely to be found at the village fete than in a kitchen

Really working, jazzy, rather than potentially functional? I admired it when I was there, but there was no sign that it had been used for years.
