Thanks, Loge. I had both answers correct but just couldn't make out the wordplay. I should really have seen the 5 letter wordplay.... grrrrr!

I'm on the home straight, I think. Is 'wanting standards' a definition in 16? Despite having most of the letters for 9 down I don't have a scooby as to the answers, any hint appreciated.

Hi Planks. The first half refers to mate but as a drink like herbal tea. The second is work over as in the work is done again.

I'm in a similar situation to Planks but with 6d. All the letters but one from 20a (I have an idea for that but can't parse). So hints, tips, tricks all appreciated.

Gazzar, it helped me when I realised that all the down entries start with the first letter of the answer to the first part of the double clue. Then the second cell must either be the second letter of the first answer or the first letter of the second answer. That narrows things down a little.
