Area. What's the equivalent of 10a in English?

Hi everyone

Joining late as usual as I had to go from Exeter to Barnstaple and back today for a Covid test, prior to a minor op at Barnstaple on Tuesday.

I started well with 10ac, 14ac and 19ac and then ground to a halt. I've got more now, but having read through all the entries on the Forum realise that I've got 12 wrong, but at least I've filled in 8d. I haven't got 4d or 24d and I'm not sure about the parsing for a number.

Can I have a hint for 22ac and 22d. Does 22ac involve alcohol? I've an answer for 22d, but can't see why.

I too enjoyed 24ac

Personally, I write my answers in pencil in the newspaper. I have to rub a number out.

I'll have another think after I've ejected the cat from my keyboard.

Yes, there's some alcohol on the outside of 22a. 22d is "try" then an unfinished word for saying the letters in a word. It's the one that I thought could have been linked to 8d.

Which end do you come from? I was born and brought up in Barnstaple!

I've got 12ac now.

I came by the link road and followed my satnav to the hospital. Going back, I started on the link road, but diverted via Bickleigh so I could call at the Mill. I'm in isolation now until Tuesday.

Just got 22ac, but 2d is a mystery to me.

Must go and watch Scandi noir now. I'll be back.

Any hints for 15d I now have G???S?????

If you have 26, 2 should be obvious!
15 is sort of dictionary-related

Back again.

Unfortunately, I have neither 2d or 26ac. In fact I have very little of the SW corner. I shall give it another hour and then give up.

Fellow Devonian, born and bred, currently displaced ;)

...and now parsed them. I've finished, but not managed to parse 16d or 13d and 4d, for which I have made up an answer.

A bit too hard for me Brendan (the setter).
