I won't see the puzzle until tomorrow, but some Times subscribers may have queries, comments...

Usual tricky clues from Harribobs, but almost there. I can't parse either of the two French authors (although 32D is obvious from checking words). I'm not sure about how to interpret the final word of the revealed instruction either. It seems very vague. Perhaps daylight will help. But so far it's a stiff, but rewarding, challenge (hard, but nothing like as hard as 4570).

The thread looked forlorn so here goes.
Wordplay may have an extra letter.

1a. Man goes round Norway wearing Irish sweater (8)

Thanks.

Daylight may well help Cockie - not quite the long grid stare I feared and the final word does make sense. One of the blighters is a bugger to get mind as it is in the native lingo and not the name as we tend to know it. Excellent puzzle though.

I can't see anything that will fir the 3 letters I have for 34ac - is it a place?

Otherwise, all good apart from the SW corner- tips for 20d and/or 26ac would be helpful, thanks

No, Dylan. It's a place with a word for with removed. Definition is "gusto".
