Thanks for your postings.

I have drunk a lot of gin, with various additions, but never with "it". Like Malone I have never heard anyone ask for it.

Yes homophones never work for everyone. I see on another thread that bhaji is supposed to sound the same as bargee. Not here. In local Indian restraunts, bhaji is pronounced more like "budgie".

Jono, Grunger, Jigjag

Thanks for the posts. My cup runneth over with one of today's clues...

Quarrel noisily in Baden-Baden? (3)

I haven't given the answer as I don't want to spoil things for anyone who hasn't yet tackled the puzzle.

PS I'll be away from the Forum for a while, I'm off to buy a huge pile of Rs, those seem essential...

That one's not even close, malone. Do sprinkle yours Rs liberally!

Thanks, Chris. R you sitting comfortably....?

There's rarely any respite during our supermarket trips. Recent, draconian regulations require every property to retain readily-accessible rations of Rs. Sainsburys' restocked their stores, receiving a rapturous response from yours truly.

I bought over 100 Rs, and threw caution to the wind, using many of them in the preceding paragraph.

ChrisE, thanks - that was just a piece of nonsense! My next campaign might be to boycott the letter R ...

Grunger,

It's not today's setter's fault that we're having a run, a spate of homophone clues that don't work nationwide .Still, I am resigned to my fate - if a clue works for the majority of solvers, I'll just have to grin and bear it (and have a good moan, either privately or on here!).

PS I hope it's not a disappointment that I've returned so soon? Thanks for your kind wishes!

Jigjag,

Thanks, that was very kind of you.

Maybe you don't use many Rs in writing as you need so many for speech?

My trip away was very brief, just a rapid restocking... oh no, I'm doing it again...
