My third try to post the same thing. Each of the previous times, after fighting with traffic lights, shop fronts, bridges etc the total posts on the thread increased but my post didn't appear.
Apologies if 3 posts suddenly appear.

Thanks Gem. An interesting blog. I might go and have a look at some of the other puzzles Oyler mentioned. I feel your pain on the fight with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings!

All finished (well just about) - very enjoyable. I do have a few lingering queries though if someone could put me out of my misery? Please don't be too explicit in case it spoils it for others.

1d - I have the answer but just can't see the wordplay or the extra word (even though I know the corrected letter)

5d - I can't see the wordplay

14d - ditto

Thanks

simond9x - ID second word extra - If you google the changed word (first letter changes) followed by western Australia all should be clear. The word play is removing 'a' (before) from synonym for pets (as in cuddles)'

5D answer is a synonym for southern. Word play pious type inside word for heard

14D Word play - first and last letters of first word in type of dresses for answer associated with 'pals' for instance

I must admit I'm always a little confused with how much you can extend a word. ie a quality of friendship into qualities of friendship.

Interestingly I see I posted Number 97 out of 95!

I too have finished....except for understanding 29D:
Eg Fido barking, good for cub following. There seems to be only one word that fits...D***ue, but I can't work out why.
If anyone is passing by I would be very grateful for some help, as it's really annoying me!
Thank you.
