The 'Last post', as shown on the main page, doesn't seem to be here. This is a trail post....

Thank you so much, gem94. It was the "good for following" that I stupidly missed !

The forum seems to have taken a dislike to me. I compose my message, take on the CAPTCHA with mixed success, and post. The total of posts on the thread goes up, but my post disappears off into the electronic ether, so I have another try, again apparently unsuccessful, till some time later the posts miraculously appear, and I am left looking somewhat idiotic.

(However I do take the credit for starting the trend of post 93 of 91 etc.)

Yes very amusing - I posted and said my last post was shown as 97 out of 95 - but while posting it changed to 97 out of 97 - but my new post then became 99 out of 97...

All done but one small residual issue. I have 34d - there are no unches - but can’t parse it.

Hey people, is anyone else still struggling over this puzzle before daring to look at the latest? Any help please with 29,31,33,36, and 40 across, plus 3,25,27,30,32, and 35 down. This looked, and still looks, so do-able that I'm not sure which natural phenomenon I can hang my current obtuseness on - I can't blame everything on over-exposure to Brexit (can I ?).
