Elle, glad you caught - and really enjoyed - your match. I saw only the first 10 minutes as friends dropped in. I'm sure I'd have thought it great fun. I really liked the Woodies years ago.

I hope Heather Watson does well in her Mixed Doubles match. When I saw her playing on Thursday, she was delighting in the doubles. I didn't approve of her bad behaviour in the Singles, but the fine she received was excessive and unfair.

Hello, Malone!
I've just read up about Heather's fine- I didn't know about it.
What happens to Serena then, when she bashes her racquets about?
Nothing, I'll bet!

Hello, Elle,
Glad you are enjoying the tennis!
(Davis Cup on BBC next week)
I have not seen anything.
I have been hunting a "triple beep" noise at home.
It was there for hours and I could not find it.
La Bamba came to help and found a carbon monoxide detector on top of a kitchen cupboard giving it laldy!
It is tamperproof so we drowned it in a bucket of water to get peace!
I have the cycling on.
Beautiful scenery and groups scattered across the road!

Elle, Serena was also fined - a smaller sum - for 'racket abuse'. I found it strange that Troicki had a prolonged rant during a (men's singles) match, yelling at the umpire and so on - yet his fine was a lesser amount than Heather's. There's an arbitrariness about it all that I don't like or trust.

Hey, Rusty!
Yes, I am having a great time!
The women's Final is a good match so far.....Serena took the first set, but the play from both players is excellent.
I'm not sure that drowning your carbon monoxide alarm is the right way to go.......!
How did you know that it wasn't going off for the correct reason?!
(And I hope you are going to get another one to replace it?)
What does "laldy" mean?
I am glad you are enjoying the cycling!

Rusty,
Stop press!
Serena won! but it was a well fought match - both players did well.
(On reflection, couldn't that triple bleep noise be an indication that the battery needed replacing?)
Just watching the presentation of the trophy........

Hello, Elle!
Life is wonderful with me too!
Drowning the alarm works well.
There are several different beeps.
A "triple beep" means it has come to the end of its life and please replace it. It is a sealed tamperproof unit.
It is very resilient to drowning (like Rasputin).
Lights are still showing under water.
Plan B is to take a hammer to it.
The Pyrenees are great. Beautiful weather, super scenery, nice villages, and the lads are getting stuck in.
Now, could young Adam Yates be in yellow tonight?
Anne Bradford has "gorilla" under "thousand".
Why so?
Anything to do with a "monkey" being £500?

Hi Rusty!

What a beautiful stage - I do love the Pyrenees ! Much wilder than the Alps.

I think that Team Sky and and Chris Froome are going to be very hard to beat again this year; in fact, I wouldn't mind putting a little bet on Froome winning the Tour again this year.

I know it's early to say so but his team look so well organised and he obviously is in good form - But boy, what a descent !

Contador is not really there yet - Voeckler does not impress me and there are too many mountain stages for P. Sagan.
What to you think?

Hello, Pigale!
The Pyrenees are great!
I enjoyed today's stage.
I was surprised at Froome's attack.
I have never thought of him as a top descender, but he has learned.
I think Contador is slowly getting there after his crashes.
Sagan is too chunky for the mountains, like Cancellara.
Too much weight to haul up.
I would love to see him challenge for a Tour if he cut down his weight a bit.
Did not see Voeckler today.
I think you will have to look to the younger Frenchmen for a realistic challenge.
Froome looks special, though!

Yes, there are quite a number of young French lads, and it is good to see the new generation coming up.

It very hot today - went up to 35 in some places according to French commentators, with tarmac melting.
Tomorrow is going to be another beast, and just as hot - Andora is very hot!
