Hello, Elle!
There are claims he was in cahoots with corrupt officials to gain him enough backing to become President of the IAAF.
He is not the man for that job, I do not think..
I read quite a bit about "goings on" tonight, including that Mo Farah missed two dope tests before the London Games.
I did not know that.
Apparently he could not hear the doorbell as he was in his bedroom.
They rang seven times!
Another one for the "panic room"!
These people are incredible.
I have started following the Tweets of Kara Goucher, the American runner turned whistleblower. Very interesting, what she has to say.

Good morning, Rusty!
Somewhat dreich this morning! And definitely a mite cooler than of late.
I always enjoy the early morning walk though , regardless of the weather.
What is it like in your neck of the woods?
Yes, I knew about Mo missing two drugs tests but it was quite a while ago - about this time last year?
I didn't want to think ill of him then.
Nor do I now.......I hate this slow ripping of scales from my eyes, as first one 'hero,' then another, falls from grace, whatever the discipline.
I cannot place Kara Goucher? I think she is a 10,000 metres runner, but cannot bring her face to mind.
On what - and why - has she decided to blow the whistle?

Good afternoon, Elle,
It is raining and not warm with me!
Kara blew the whistle on Salazar among others.
Drugs and cheating are rife in sport, Elle.
I have been following cycling since the 1950's and 90% plus of my heroes were found to be dopers.
And corruption is to be found on the governing bodies sports committees.
Blind eyes can easily be bought, and have been.
The brazenness and effrontery of people like Sharapova is sickening, and yet still Nike stand by her.
Although I think Adidas pulled out of deals with sports recently.
Anyway, the golf is back on after the weather problems yesterday.
I'm hoping for clear skies over Pennsylvania!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Oh, I hadn't realised that it was Kara who was responsible for raising the issue of Salazar's - Mo's coach's - suspected use of thyroid drugs , like testosterone - and also asthma preparations- for "helping" his athletes achieve "greatness."
I couldn't recall how all that had come up.
I know Galen Rupp, Mo's training partner, was found guilty of drug abuse.
I'd hoped that Mo, as he was insisting, was well clear of it all.
Too depressing ....... so a change of subject....
Our youngest grandson (3 months old) has now got his costume as Superman to take part in the fundraising for St. Thomas' hospital.
This is to help fund research, and provide information on, the causes and prevention of miscarriage , still birth and premature birth.
Tommy's have joined forces with Baby Sensory, as I told you, to host the Tommy's "Sensathon".
So a good cause!
BB (also dressed as a Superhero!) is allowed to help him achieve his part!
Now for some more tennis........Andy Murray is playing Edmund.
Sunny in West Ken...raining here!

Hello, Elle!
Kara was part of Salazar's group.
Is St Thomas' a children's hospital?
There are so many worthy causes, aren't there!
My ASDA supports the local Foodbank, as does my nearhand TESCO, and they also have a trolley for donating pet food.
Are you participating in the St Tommy's fund raising?
How is young Andy getting on at Tennis?
No rain at Royal Ascot. I have plenty!

Hi, Rusty!
No, Tommy's isn't a Children's Hospital. It is a general NHS hospital in Central London, part of the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
There is a children's hospital next door to it, but our major children's hospital is Great Ormond Street Hospital - or GOSH! as it is often called.
I've given a donation to the cause through "Baby".
Our local hospital, though, is in Kent.
Andy won his match, as you probably know by now.
His opponent did well though, taking Andy to a third set.
(I cannot get used to their only playing three sets in this particular tournament )
How is the racing at Ascot going? Did you place any bets?
Dreich here again...it's been like this on and off all afternoon.

Hello, Elle,
I have heard of Great Ormond Street Hospital and seen references to GOSH (I like that!)
Sure I have seen ads for GOSH in the papers.
That is good you have joined in.
No bets today, but I have backed two golfers in the US Open.
Both going along nicely.
That will do for now.
I am baffled by this clue/answer in today's Times.
7, Animal sanctuary's in a whirl: one duck's flown away, I regret to say (3)
I have s?z. It looks like "zo(o)'s" reversed, giving "soz".
There is a word "sozzle", but I cannot find "soz" for "I regret to say".
Any idea, Elle, or am I completely astray?
It has been dry here this afternoon.
Hope it continues!

Rusty, 'soz' isn't in my Chambers but it's in the Oxford dictionaries. It's been around since the 1990s and is just a variation of 'sorry'. It is a VERY ugly word!

Hello, Malone.
I have never heard it in use.
Anne Bradford does not have it either.
I agree, it is not a nice-sounding word.
I'll stick with "sorry"!

I have never used the word, but I have had a number of texts with 'soz' in them! Some of my friends have gone down in my estimation -not only for being late, say, but also for being 'soz' that they're being late.
