Hello, Elle"
What electronic usage?
I try to keep up, I really do.
I think the crow would be easy pickings for a cat or fox.
I think that users of OMG and LOL etc should be banished to the Pribilof Islands.

Hi, Rusty!
I meant that my dictionaries did not define "soz" as being used in electronic communication (as referred to by Malone).
It did pass through my mind (notice, passed through, rather than remained there) that I should have clarified what I'd said!
All right, I'll buy it.....where and what are the Pribilof Islands?
Or is it an acronym?!

Hello, Elle!
No, the Pribilofs are between Alaska and Russia.
At one time Russia controlled them.
They are inhabited by seals, (I think at one time they may have been called the Northern Fur Seal Islands).
The Russians sent any transgressors there.
It was a freezing, bleak, existence...if you survived.
Would suit the OMG's and LOL's down to the ground!
Or am I being harsh?

Hi, Rusty!
I learn something new every day!
( I wonder when I can drop that titbit of knowledge into a conversation?)
Well....maybe just a little bit harsh......
Mind you, I always used to think that LOL meant "lots of love"...... when did it translate into "laugh a lot"?

Hello, Elle!
I thought it meant "laugh out loud"?
I would keep the Pribilofs to yourself.
Not so sure many would know about them?
It was sheer hell to be sent there.
Nothing there but seals and crabs.
Think it was Peter the Great's idea.
He was a very keen ship builder, you know.
And he hated beards.

Good morning, Rusty!
A chilly morning! I have even put the heating on for an hour (or so).
Yes, you are of course quite correct - I should have put "laugh out loud".
Blame the slip on a "senior moment"!
I knew about Peter the Great hating beards....he instigated a Beard tax, didn't he?
A busy day coming up......a lot to fit in at some stage.
We haven't yet been out with the dog.......that has been put back for a couple of hours due to a late start this morning!
I have set the recorder for the Athletics ( Stockholm, which you watched the other day) and for this afternoon's Queen's tennis Semi-final.
I am now about to pop out for a paper........

Good morning, Elle!
I have a fine bright day here. Splendid!
Peter was known to grab a knife and hack beards off, too.
I have been out walking earlier today.
Hope you like the athletics.
Laura Muir said she is going to have to learn how use her elbows more.
My sports schedule is up in the air due to the US Open being way behind because of bad weather.
Police up here are looking for a clot of a photographer who scared ospreys from their nest in the Trossachs area.
Another one for the Pribilofs!

Hi, Rusty!
We are just back from a walk, plus a visit to the crematorium.
It is my parents' Wedding Anniversary today, and of course Fathers' Day tomorrow, so we decided to take both plants down there today.
I have missed seeing the Athletics when transmitted, but will watch the recording later after the tennis.
I cannot see Laura elbowing someone out of the way, but needs must!
I must remember the "Pribilofs"......... I like it!
It beats sending someone to Coventry!
So when is your golf taking place then ?
Right, coffee.........and tennis!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, it is Father's Day tomorrow.
I am going out with a granddaughter then.
We are going to visit some of the family.
The golf should be on soon (watching Ireland at the football just now). They are still playing catch up at the golf.
Rain and lightning stopped play previously.
There was a book reviewed in The Times today which interests me. "Somme" by Hugh Sebag Montefiore.
The reviewer praises it. I shall have a look on Amazon.
I do not know the author.
The phrase is "Condemned to the Pribilofs"!
Does not sound very nice!
I learned about it in a great book I had about the history of Alaska.
Now, I am not sure of this, but at the back of my mind something is telling me that Peter the Great spent time at shipyards (possibly in England) studying shipbuilding.
He was a remarkable man...to those who did not have beards!

Hi rusty
Yes, I think Peter (the Great) worked in the shipyards at Greenwich (before he was great, presumably?) - though there's no mention on Wikipedia.
