Hello, Elle!
Yes, you write to BBC, Elle.
You may get an answer from the BBC's version of "Rose"!
I was on Amazon earlier, and twigged that Chambers have the "missing" words in their dictionary, now.
Why not ask for one to replace the copy you bought with 500 missing words?
Wonder why Lizzie's race is finishing in Kettering?
All the top riders are in it.

Hi, Rusty!
However / wherever did you discover about the 500 missing words now being back in Chambers?
I have just tried Googling this, but all it comes up with, is info telling me that the words are missing - and where I can find a list of said words (which I already have.)
I can find nothing about the 500 words now being included again in an up-to-date dictionary?
I cannot even find mention of a new 14th edition?
nor of an amended 13th edition for that matter?

Btw, Ixion is quite 'famous! He comes up when all this is Googled as being the instigator of the "inquiry"!

I like "Rose" - we had quite a long chat!

Hello, Elle!
Right!
Go to Amazon site.
Type "Chambers Dictionary" in Amazon searchbox.
Select the top dictionary. 13th I think.
Now, click on "Customer reviews".
Look to the right side of page.
The top review mentions "the missing words are back".
So does a review about 4 or 5 places down.
So, it appears as if it has been fixed.
Have a wee look and see what you make of it?
Yes, I like Rose, too.
A fine girl!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have done all that - I came up with this

"5.0 out of 5 stars .An investment, not just a book
By S. Robinsonon 7 May 2016
Format: Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is the greatest dictionary in the world, bar none. This new edition includes the 500 or so words that were omitted from the original 13th edition. It's a must for any crossword fan, and a hugely valuable resource to have in the house. My children have started using it for their homework and it's a great resource for games of scrabble. I can't believe that I waited so long to get one. It's expensive, but it's important to realise that this is an investment and not just a book."

So yes, it would appear that a new revised edition is 'somewhere'!
But I cannot find it !!!!
I have searched Google, I have searched Amazon....
It is more elusive than "The Scarlet Pimpernel!
I think I am happy with situation as it is..... yes, Amazon did promise to exchange my present dictionary once a new one appeared on the horizon....I have an email to that effect.
But at least I know with the dictionary that I have now is that I have all that was in it before, plus the additional list of 500 missing words, which I have printed off.
"Better the Devil you know...."?
Don't you think?

Hello, Elle!
If you think so.
This whole thing was very badly handled by Chambers.
It states "Fully revised and updated February 2016 to include additional enriching words."
Could this be a coded reference meaning they have fixed their blunder and is their way of letting the public know?
If it was me, I would try emailing Amazon and asking them if this is the corrected version and will they exchange it as promised.
An email won't hurt, Elle.
But, if you do not want hassle, let it go.
I would have had Chambers off to the Pribilofs!

Hi Elle
I do agree we have hours of Snooker, Darts and Football but anything else is highlights .Most other sports are now on other channels,I would rather not watch the snippets we get as you say you they are over so quickly perhaps the Olympics will be better and I hope our athletes do better.I wonder why Usain Bolt is absent at the moment. I wont watch the Queens final my blood pressure would be off the scale

If you have to pay the postage to return your Chambers, elle, I wouldn't bother. It won't be cheap. Perhaps amazon will send a label?
There seem to be two versons on amazon, one costing £45 and the other £25.99. The blurb for the latter says -

Fully revised and updated February 2016 to include additional enriching words
There are 98 reviews, some presumably carried over from before. One written yesterday says the missing words are back in.

Was so disappointed yesterday when turned on TV to watch the advertised GB Sewing Bee (dig that Patrick) and Flogit (repeats though they were, I had been working hard and needed a break) only to find they were talking about Wimbledon. They were still doing so half an hour later when I switched back on (briefly) again.

Ah well, there's always reading.... and attempting the Times 2013

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely morning here - blue skies and sunshine! We more -or -less had the park to ourselves at 8am.
I have ( almost) decided to leave things be regarding Chambers.
I at least know exactly what I have before me regarding my present 13th edition , plus the additional printout of the missing words.
God alone knows what I might get should I exchange this volume!
This is not relinquishing my fighting spirit.......you know me better than that.....but simply being practical!!!!
(but how I wish I could say "Condemn them to the Pribilofs!")
Just got time now for a quick look at the Everyman, then off to lunch about 11.30 with our daughter and family.
I have set the recorder for the tennis!
I hope you have a great time with your granddaughter - enjoy your visiting!
Happy Fathers' Day!

Hi, Doglet!
I am glad for your support re the poor allocation of viewing time for the Athletics - I think I might follow your example and write to the BBC. I doubt it will do any good - but you never know.........
I have set the recorder for the tennis Final.......my dislike for Mr M must be a little less than yours!

Hello, Ros,
A good point about the postage, but I would have asked for a prepaid label if I intended to send back the book.
Never give an inch......!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
You do, or don't do, whatever you are most comfortable with, regarding Chambers and their blighted Dictionary.
I know I won't ever buy one of their products again after their contemptuous disregard of their customers concerns.
I hope you have a nice day out and the weather holds!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, thank you!
I am sure we will have a great time!
Baby is getting to know us now and beams away when he sees us, and we always get an enthusiastic welcome from BB!
( their cat likes me , too, but he doesn't like our dog, so she has to stay "home alone")
I must go and get changed.....
Hope you have a good day too!
