Good morning, Rusty!
A damp morning - cagoule and nubucks much needed for the dog walk.
Pleasant temperature though - about 16C.
I have two books on pre-order from Amazon....... I think they are due out in the next couple of months.
One is the latest Sebastian Faulks ( he of "Engleby" fame) and the other the latest in the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer.
I am awaiting them with impatience!
I was put in mind of the osprey chicks this morning........one of the baby crows had fallen out of its nest - mother crow was fiercely defending it and dive-bombing any person or dog who inadvertently went near.
I left someone phoning the Rangers' headquarters.
Though what could be done? We are told never to touch a fledgling. aren't we , lest the mum then denies it.
"Ladies who Lunch" today!

Hello, Ros!
The plot thickens........
I was reading yesterday that drinking coffee has been found to be anti - carcinogenic.
Jolly good, one might think?
But someone was saying on the radio this morning that coffee must be drunk stone cold as otherwise one would get cancer!!!
Er, not so good?
I think ignore all you are told and believe that "a little of what you fancy , goes a long way"!

I absolutely agree elle. Moderation, except the less sugar we eat the better. But I like that, too! Am I giving up dark chocolate and the odd KitKat??No

I remember very hot drinks (over a long period) being implicated in oral cancer years ago. Can't imagine why coffee would have to be stone cold, when I find it undrinkable. It used to worry me that my mother drank tea with no milk, scalding hot. I believe the problem is repeated minor trauma.

I see that sunshine on bare skin is now being recommended so we can manufacture our own vitamin D ! ho ho. You need cholesterol to do this. OOps

Good morning, Elle!
Raining here, ah well,
Now speaking of statins etc brought this to my mind.
My old GP (retired now) got very excited one time I went to see him. He discovered I had not had a 'flu jab and almost leapt over the desk to his cupboard to get the necessary vaccine etc.
I thought that a bit odd.
My new GP, a very nice young lad, did the very same last year.
I suspect they get paid per vaccine.
That could explain the unbridled enthusiasm for giving flu jabs.

Hi, Rusty!
I think you are correct there, Rusty, because I remember reading about there being some controversy over pharmacists being paid more per vaccine than the local GP!
And for some reason I think a swine flu vaccination earns the GP even more than the average flu jab?
Why would that be, I wonder?
It has stopped raining here and the sun is attempting to show his face.
I must go and get changed out of dog walking gear, ready to go out for lunch.......catch you later........

Good evening, Rusty!
"Ladies who Lunch" went well - it was very nice to see everyone and up with all the news.
We visited a favourite restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal.
(I certainly shan't require any dinner tonight!)
I haven't had chance to watch any tennis at Queens.......a friend came home with me for coffee and hasn't long been gone
I see though that Andy Murray is through to the next round.
What have you been up to?
Have you been watching the horse -racing?
I wonder what happened to the poor young bird that had fallen out of its nest this morning.......maybe I will get an update tomorrow.......

Good evening, Elle!
Glad you had a good day out!
I only watched the Gold Cup at Ascot.
Had the golf on since mid afternoon.
Rain and lightning holding up play, though.
Laura Muir was 5th in Stockholm tonight.
I do not know about a fallen bird?

Hi, Rusty!
We shall be getting the Highlights of the Stockholm Athletics when they are shown on BBC1 on Saturday.
I shall have to curb my impatience until then!
It is directly followed by the Queen's tennis Semi -final, so I shall have to plan my day with care!
The tennis Final will be on Sunday afternoon whilst we are out - I shall have to remember to record that match.
I mentioned the baby crow earlier - a friend found it this morning in the park. It had obviously either fallen from its nest or attempted to fly and failed.
Other adult crows were circling to protect it and swooping down on anyone who came too near.
He was trying to contact the Rangers when I left.......I may hear more tomorrow.
Raining here... how has your day been ?

Hello, Elle!
I remember about your crow now.
Had a senior moment. That'll be the statins!
I wonder if they will ring the osprey chicks?
They are really growing!
I just really watched the golf today.
Read that Victoria P was at Ascot yesterday wearing a home made hat!
Looked very nice!
And what is going to happen to Seb?
BBC investigating him.
Think he could end up in the "panic room" with Maria!

Hi, Rusty!
I haven't heard anything about Seb? The decision about whether the Russians are to be allowed to compete in the Games at Rio must be due soon?
Has something else been happening? I surprisingly haven't heard the News at all today - been too busy.
What is this about an investigation by the BBC?
The "panic room" will be becoming crowded!
