Hey, Rusty!
We have had a very enjoyable walk!
Glorious out....didn't even need a coat!
People will never cease to amaze me though.....
Despite the park consisting of 200 acres (!) there was a family sitting having a picnic on the steps of the car park!
All that land......and that is where they chose to eat!
My great -aunt (grandmother of my Scottish cousin) used to say "There's nowt so queer as folk"!
I think she was right!
Thanks for the info on the programme about the Tube . Yes, I shall record that, it should be interesting.
There is also - funnily enough - another programme about the Tube on Channel 4 at 9 pm, also on Monday - but this sounds to be a continuation of a series about London Transport ( but I haven't been following it).
Well done, Lizzie!
Did you have a bet on her?

Pigale,
Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you...I have only just come home.....
I don't have the paper -
What was the clue for 10 across in today's Times 15 x15, please?

Hello, Elle!
No, no bet on Lizzie.
I did not know she was racing.
Cycle racing gets very poor media coverage in UK.
If Wayne Rooney had a sore toe it would be all over the papers, though.
Lizzie is in great form, though.
Cancellara came second in the men's race.
I think the Tube prog will be good.
Wonder if it is part of a series?
Osprey webcam still down.
Not very impressed by the lack of communication about it.
Surely an update would be in order?
Fine afternoon here after the rain.

Sorry Elle, I thought you did buy the paper on a Sunday

10a There's nearly twenty-five quid in school's gold fund (7)

I am pretty sure I have the answer but just in case.... if I am correct, there is a bit of a cockney term

Hello Rusty,

I have just read the ospreys blog - there is a new up-date written today; Apparently, we have missed Laddie bring in a pike which Lassie snatched to eat ! Shame we can't see any motion.

Hi, Rusty!
Well, even I know who Wayne Rooney is!
I wonder why cycling gets such poor coverage in the UK?
Cancellara did well to come second.
Why is he retiring?
Is it because of his age, or because he wants to pursue something different - as did Victoria?
It doesn't sound as though the programme on BBC4, about the Tube, is part of a series?
But the other one, showing on Channel 4, about which I told you, definitely is
(although, from the blurb in the TV guide, it sounds a little odd?)
Still no movement on the osprey site - the cameras must still be down, although there is now an apology for this on the blog.
Younger daughter has just rung , suggesting meeting for lunch on Wednesday!
I think your rain is moving down here....now looking very black outside............

Yes, Pigale - we do normally buy a Sunday Times - we forgot earlier and my husband has gone out to get one!
He has been gone rather a long time, so I expect he is chatting to someone somewhere!

Now that clue.......
Did you think it was "sponsor"?

Maybe
sponsor = fund (def)
pon (y) - twenty five quid
or - gold
but couldn't account for the s s?

but then where does ''school's'' fit in?
I wondered about the 's' at the beginning and end of ''school's '' but couldn't justify it?

which would just leave chool (between cool and chill) - that does not make any sense to me ! I am almost sure it's the correct answer but can't totally parse it ! very annoying !

BTW am I write in thinking that 'pony' is cockney, or is it just slang ?
