Hello, Elle!
My numbering is wonky!
This is odd, I know no one who has a biscuit tin!
They think they are old fashioned and not needed any more.
The setter and you do not appear to be sounding the "r" in Marshalsea?
Not a homothingy for me.
I have not heard of "dish" meaning "outmanoeuvre", before?
Do you have a source for it?
I am watching the cycling just now.

Hi, Rusty!
Whew! I am exhausted …….
Our builders came round and measured up for the materials they would need for the restoration work.
They start work in earnest tomorrow morning at 8am!
This afternoon, I have been shifting furniture, etc.
We need to clear as much as possible out of the dining room and kitchen.
The guys are very good, and told us to leave the very heavy stuff - like the oak dining table - and they would shift it tomorrow.
We opted for leaving the fridge and freezer in situ, and covering them up with sheets.
It will be chaos tomorrow, when they take (most of ) the rest of the ceiling down.......
And I am deserting the sinking ship and going out!
I feel really bad about it, but cannot change my arrangements now.
How is the cycling going?

Hello, Elle!
That's good your builders are starting soon.
Now, I have a problem.
I replied to your earlier post at 15.12 and I saw it on the main page.
Yet when I opened the thread my post was not there.
It only appeared when your latest post appeared.
There is something odd going on because the post numbers are not right.
It is the same on my Chromebook, 'phone, and tablet.
Hope this posts successfully and I can read it!

Hi, Rusty!
This situation has happened in the past ....several months ago now.....
On one occasion, I reported something similar to Norah.
At the time, it was not affecting me personally, but I noticed the discrepancies between the timings on the main page, and on the respective threads.
Norah hadn't seen it...and I think it righted itself.
But if this continues, I think you should email Norah and let her know?
Ash can maybe sort it out?
I would doubt you are the only person being affected?
But the Admin dept. cannot do anything, unless you tell them of the problem.
Strangely, I am not having any trouble though...….
All of your message to me (and from me to you) are appearing on MY screen in good order.... with what seem to be the right numbering and appropriate timings?
Talk to Norah?

let me know if this reaches you ok?

Hello, Elle!
I shall hold off telling Norah just now until I see how this goes.
Your post at 18.10 is 26884 of 26883 on MY screen.
But it is only the latest post that is affected.
Your post will be correctly numbered once this post or another post is registered.
I have sent myself test emails, made a bid for an item on eBay, and posted successfully on other sites this afternoon, and am at a loss to understand it!
All working fine at my end, except on this site, yet it is OK with you.
Odd!

Rusty, your latest post is showing as '...85' of '...84' on my laptop. Very odd!

PS I don't know anyone who doesn't have a biscuit tin. I've never bought one, but often get tins of biscuits, shortbread etc as presents. The nicest tins get kept.

Yes, Malone, and yours is showing 86 of 85, on mine!
Very odd, indeed!
My non-appearing post (at least at my end) is more puzzling.
I could see it on the main page, but when I opened the thread it was not there!
I do not know anyone with a biscuit tin!
Must be the company I keep!

PS, Malone, so that's you and me, at least, who have unsynchronised post numbers, yet Elle says her's are OK.
Odd goings on!

Rusty, I don't like mysteries, but I don't think I'll ever work out how the numbering goes so wonky!

I have biscuit tins with the following on them... Scottie dogs, stags, misty hills. You could maybe guess that these all originally contained shortbread?! I also have a bright red tin that looks exactly like an old radio - that one has dials on, and also a carrying handle. These don't all have biscuits in them, by the way - one is used for cakes, another for storing spare pens!

Rusty, the other posts have corrected themselves... apart from my previous one, now showing as '89' of '88'. It seems to be the last available post that gets the strange numbering.
