Hello, Elle!
I am not sure about the telephone service on Skye, but the locals have coped with whatever is thrown at them, and that is just the way it is.
A different life style, and they are perfectly happy to live there.
Oh, I think the world of L-B.
She was over in Fife earlier and had to take the long way home as the bridge is closed due to an "incident".
Probably some poor distressed soul.
The lifeboats, coastguard, and other emergency services are in attendance.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, regarding the lack of phone reception......I guess if one lives with a situation long enough, it can become the norm.
We take a lot for granted......
Do you get many "incidents" on the Bridge?
Is it a known suicide spot?
One can hardly imagine the torment a person must be in , to decide to take his /her own life......and the subsequent distress for those left behind.
Have you looked up the links, kindly sent by Pigale, about "not to be sneezed at"?
One article refers to "snuff"....which you had put forward as a hypothesis earlier!
I think I've found the other link she couldn't send...…

Hello, Pigale!
Thank you for the links.
Is this the other one that you meant?

Yes Elle, that is the one; there is an amusing paragraph which seems
to have nothing to do with the main subject, but on the whole it
is interesting I think; may be US written?

My bed is calling me - night night

but let me know what you both think of this article

Good morning, Elle!
Another fine day out there.
We are being spoiled!
When my pal was here not so long ago, we all met at Pine Cone, and he pulled out his 'phone.
It was a very old one, like one I had around 15 years ago.
He said a new smart 'phone would be a waste because of the poor intermittent signal where he lived.
Just had a Tweet from Tayside Police to say the bridge has re-opened after the "incident".
"Incidents" happen all too often on the bridge and I feel for the person involved.
They are handled very professionally, with an immediate closure of the bridge and the lifeboats etc in attendance, as part of an established protocol.
I understand a man was removed from the bridge and is being taken care of.

I think "not to be sneezed at" is still a bit of a mystery!
I think snuff may be involved!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
Yes, another lovely day here, too, although I think a little cooler than yesterday.
We should make the most of it, while it lasts.........
The temperature is set to drop from tomorrow, and we shall also have some rain.
I think your friend's "ancient" phone sounds very much like mine!
I have a Nokia 1100, now no longer made, although one can still buy models online.
I think it's great!
It rings and it texts, which is all I require.
It sounds as though your man on the Bridge was successfully rescued in time...that is good to hear.
Now, hopefully he will get the help he needs.......
Yes, I think you were most probably right in the first instance, when you mentioned snuff as having a part in the saying "not to be sneezed at".
That seems to be the nearest explanation we have come across.
I need a coffee!

Good afternoon, Elle!
A tad cooler here as well, but fine and dry.
I think my first 'phone was either a Nokia or a Sharp's.
It was very basic but did exactly what it was supposed to do!
The lad was taken from the bridge, OK.

This happens quite often, and thankfully they usually manage to talk the person to safety.
My grandson is coming to see me when he finishes work.
So, I'll look forward to that!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Hi, Rusty!
We still have some sunshine...but the sky has lost its blueness....
It is astonishing how much I had come to take the lovely weather for granted over the last week or so.
I do not mind its growing colder...but I do enjoy seeing the sun and blue sky!
They provide the "feel good" factor!
We have just heard that the builders are coming tomorrow to measure up for the ceiling repairs!
And are starting the work on Thursday!
This is good....I had expected a much longer wait.
The only problem here is that this means juggling the time with appointments made with the dentist, the bank, meeting a friend for lunch..... and attending a surprise birthday "tea-party" for a friend who is bout to turn 70!
All of which is also happening between tomorrow and Saturday!
It is like several buses all coming at once!
it is good that your grandson is calling round to see you.

Sorry about the double salutation, Rusty!
Feel honoured !!
Actually, that peculiar business of the heading 'disappearing' happened again....so I retyped…..

And then when I'd pressed "send", there were two greetings on the screen!
