Hi, Rsty!
What are you up to?
Did you have a good chat with your grandson?
I expect he has been filling you in on the latest details about his new house!
This will be an exciting time for him.
The growing darkness has finally driven us indoors for the rest of the evening.
I have been weeding .......and my husband has been finishing off staining the (outside of) the garden gate.
A goodly afternoon's labour!

Hello, Elle!
Something odd going on!
I looked at the main page and your last post was at 20.49, yet the post above this one is at 14.36.
Has a post gone missing?
You will be pleased to see your builders, I'm sure.
I am sure you will sort out your various appointments etc!
My grandson was here earlier.
He looked smashing in his suit etc.
We had a good chat and I gave him his "house warming goodies" and he is very pleased.
Then he left to visit his girl's grandfather in hospital.
Was great seeing him!

Hi, Rusty!
That is indeed very strange?
Spooky.......
Also..... you referred to the post as "ABOVE".....?
Whereas to me it would be "BELOW"?
You must have your personal settings set differently from mine......
I have the latest post showing highest on the screen.......so to find an earlier post, I would scroll DOWN not up.......
Click on "Edit" by your name and you will see the options.
It is a lot easier to deal with the posts with the NEWEST one showing first, I think...
Have you tried that?
Especially on this long PCT thread.
If you wish, you can change the order by going to Forum Settings under "My Account".
( Only a hopefully helpful suggestion?)
I am glad that your grandson was delighted with his "house warming" packages!
I knew that he would be!
It was most thoughtful of you.

Hello, Elle!
No, I did not realise I could change things in "edit".
I'll leave it the way it is, Elle, as I am a bit thick and might make a pig's ear of things!
I am used to this system now, d'ye see.
My grandson was very pleased, and what you do not know, is, I won't give him one of my tea spoons.
What I did was speak to the ASDA girls about what I was doing and they told me ASDA sells a pack of four tea spoons for 40 pence.
So, I bought a pack, but kept two for myself, and re-wrapped the other two.
I told my grandson though, and he thought it very funny!
He was very pleased with the kettle, and coffee, and torch etc, too.
And I'd like to say that the ASDA girls were very helpful (they always are, I find) and offered good suggestions for my wee project!

Hi, Rusty!
Lordy, Rusty, you and your teaspoons!
Yes, the torch was an excellent idea!
Did the Asda staff not suggest a biscuit tin?
( I am looking for support for my suggestion!)
Rusty, trust me(!), you cannot go wrong in adjusting the settings for the order of the posts.....
Just click on "Edit" next to your name, go to Forum Settings at the bottom of "My Account", then click on "Order forum posts by newest first".
This will then bring up the newest post at the top of each thread.......
An especial boon when on the PCT!
You will then see post no 26,000- and- something...... instead of No 1
(And if you don't like it that way after trying it...you can just as easily switch back!)
I've just gone backwards and forwards to try it, so I guarantee it works!

Good morning, Elle!
Seems fine outside!
Your last post is numbered 26786 of 26875?
Some thing odd going on!
I did not mention biscuit tins, Elle.
Nor did my grandson.
I'm going out with him and his girl on Sunday and may ask if a biscuit tin appeals to them.
I think the biscuits are well wrapped as it is.
I am staying away from "editing", thank you.
I am "used" to the system I have and that's fine with me.

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely day here at the moment - but the forecast for later is rain.
I had the usual enjoyable walk this morning.
I have a few household jobs to do this morning, before we head out to the dentist for our 11.30 appointments.....
Hopefully, the builders will catch us in the early afternoon, to do their measuring up.
We can give them a front door key, so that they can come and go from then on......and it won't matter if we need to be out.
( Providing of course, that the dog is willing to allow them indoors!)
The numbering of posts seems to be okay at my end?

Hello, Elle!
Weather is dry but cooler that it has been.
My advice from ASDA is that biscuit tins are not needed nowadays.
"Just keep them in a cupboard"!
They sell plastic food containers but no sign of biscuit tins.
I bought a chopping board, though.
A so-so puzzle today.
17a is a new word for me, and I can not quite see the parse for 15d.
And 9a is a homothingy which does not work for me.
And now I'm off to see how the new ALDI is coming along!
The latest post on this page appears to be 1 out?
I suspect the numbering of this post will be 26879 of 26878?

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Our rain came early!
It poured down on the way to the dentist!
However, it is sunshining again now - definitely chillier though.
Now.......I have taken a local census.........."Where do you keep your biscuits once the packet has been opened ?" said I.
"Why, in the biscuit tin, of course" replied everyone, to a man, very firmly!
Biscuits tins are still sold in our neck of the woods!
I have finished my crossword.......partly by courtesy of the dentists, who always provide "The Times" for their patients!
Re 9a...."Marshalsea (an old prison in Southwark) sounding like "Ma shall see" works fine for me!
I parsed 15d as follows :
dishcloth = washer-up (def)
C- Charlie
loth- reluctant
and
dish - outmanoeuvre?
( Although I always considered "dish" more to mean "scupper" than "outmanoeuvre"?)
I liked 5d: Charity; and 18d: "oregano"

No problem with the numbering of the posts here?
