Well I am glad others have made it through. This really was a tour de force by Hamish, involving as it did coordination as well as construction of the puzzle itself!

I just hope my name isn't mud for it being so difficult. I wanted it to be very hard indeed, but solvable.

I for one found it very rewarding, hamishsoup - much more so than certain other endgameless prize crosswords. Thank you!

All good HS. No mud, but probably the most work required to date. Those of us of advanced years have little better to test our dwindling faculties.

One thing slightly puzzles me, tho it is not a problem as I have the actual puzzle solved to my satisfaction and I never submit. The print version instructions say "Enter the contents in alphabetical order (one of one word and two of two words)". I think if things are arranged in alphabetical order they are not words. Enlightenment, please?

But I'm still not seeing it.
Do I need to come up with a 6th-word clue for the 5th word, perhaps?
I think that the heat must have addled my brain!
