Thanks BuzzyBee, I will indeed! I initially had doubts deciding which are dial 1 and which are dial 3. I think that I am through that, after a fair amount of pencil rubbings but am still staring suspiciously at 18d and 24d.

Well that was fun! Worth the slog and I am in awe of the construction. Thank you Hamish/Soup

I can only echo that sentiment! This aging Kingsman was very close to a first ever DNF. (Thanks BuzzyBee for the mental hydration break pep talk earlier today by the way!) KGB nearly had me with his le Carré cunning the other month but I can only salute Hamish/Soup(/Caius?) for this new pinnacle in Genius clueing. If I see you in one of my favourite watering holes beyond Reality Checkpoint I will be standing you a pint.

This is the first Genius crossword I've taken on beyond scanning the instructions and immediately giving up. Very proud to have finished it, albeit without parsing 1D or 8D.

Brilliant planning and construction – I'm looking forward to trying again next month.

Wow. What a crossword. Filling the grid wasn't too bad, but thanks to hints here and having the last 2 words (rest still is illegible to me) I crawled to the finish.
Took weeks to finish, but I can't comprehend how long it must have taken to set it.
Thanks for an awesome challenge.

Goodness me, people are still chipping away at it. Well done, all.

buzzybee - I was there 1960-3 but I gather from your early posting that you are far away in New Zealand? I find travelling hard work nowadays so don't get to Cambridge often enough ... but I have to be in Manchester next week to film for 70-Up

1965-68 for me, so not quite an overlap. I picked up that we may have seen some of the same folk in the Footlights.
