Thanks Chris

As i walked away from my computer, 4d dropped into my mind, then the earlier hint for 2d helped me get 2d. I suddenly saw 1d and finished the NW corner and the rest.

Some very clever clues that made me laugh, but some I couldn't fully parse :
9a, 19ac, despite my daughter having a whippet, 26ac - I don't know what a number has to do with the answer, 3d - I can't see the nap, 6d I can't see the change colour, 15d.

But I enjoyed it. FOI 10ac, LOI 8d and CODs as above 10ac and 24d plus 13d,

Back next week after having my Covid jab

A very enjoyable prize offering from Imogen which was very welcome. Apart from Maskarade’s great Easter special I have not enjoyed recent prize puzzles.
Thanks to Chrise for 24 hint which was a good way in to bottom NW corner.
FOI 12
LOI 16
COD no particular favorite but 9, 28, and 26 and 2 possibles.
As always couple of new words and general knowledge.
Thanks to forum and Imogen.

Roof. Thank you for the Round the Horne reference. What a great piece of radio that was.

Nap think how they used to represent it in comics in particular.

Number try not pronouncing the 4th letter.

Thanks Brendan. I have to be honest and say I'm not optimistic.

Well after a bit of success last few weeks, I'm tapping out here, completed about a third, and despite nudges on here I'm still stuck!

Kicking myself about 9A though, what a way to highlight one's unconscious bias, I was sure I'd gone through every football team I could think of!

I’ve nearly finished but stuck on ones that nobody seems to have mentioned! So probably very dim of me. But any hints for 5d, 20ac, 24d and 28ac would be most welcome!

Hi Bob's 11. Not sure if you're finished yet:

5d think someone who reads hands around one letter succeeded. David is the most famous of these.

20a 5 letter word for more recent with one letter changed.

24d see chrise's post earlier. What non-religious cardinals are represented by letters that can make a word meaning stitched.

28a a word meaning flimsy. Don't know the other reference.

I’ve filled my grid but I can’t for the life of me understand the wordplay for 15d. Can someone please break it down for me?

In passing, 11a felt a little unfair. The one letter substitution - based presumably on the shape of a letter. I’m not phased by some other lettershape substitution, like bends for Ls, but this one seemed a stretch for some reason. Maybe I’m not familiar with it.

11a one definition of bowl in Chambers is “ The round hollow part of anything “.
