Arguably there's a mistake in the clue for 23a - one of the letters seems to have been clued twice, unless a partial abbreviation is valid.
17a isn't too obscure. It includes a standard "quiet" in a standard "boozers" (people, not places)..
22 on the other hand is obscure! It all reads upwards. Pronounce "lead" as "ledd".

The solution to 22d is rather obvious, but the parsing seems to depend on a 2-letter acronym for "lead form" which I had NHO.

You are giving away that you haven't read all of Winnie-the-Pooh. Rectify that immediately!

Geeker, it’s just lead which yields the two letter acronym. Form goes with teacher. I’m feel sure you will have seen those two letters before.

Chris, the single letter abbreviation in 23a is valid on its own.

I don't know how widespread that 2 symbol classification is, jono.

Can you give an example? All the ones I can think of are from multiple (I almost gave a spoiler there!) abbreviations.
