Brendan, the phrase was meant as a hint that your invocation of Norah might not get a positive reaction. I once engaged in a similar dialogue with you on an Everyman thread (iirc) and resolved to henceforth remain silent on such matters. 😉

As a US boomer child, Peanuts books and TV cartoons were ubiquitous. There were even adult-targeted books such as "The Parables of Peanuts".

Geeker, I do remember a girl in a comic strip who would always move a ball just before someone was about to l kick it - after a quick search on Google I see that that was indeed Charlie Brown.

In regards Norah, I'm sure she'll have no problem with anything I said - ilippu's "unnecessary punctuation" on the other hand is a different matter altogether 😱 😂

The rule is… numbers up to four digits = no comma; numbers five or more digits = include the comma.

I agree with earlier comments with regard to the 2 in 5a unless there’s another explanation. The politician has appeared recently, he represents a useful set of four letters for setters.

Thanks Norah, I see a comma has appeared!

Very funny, Bren, re post 7😂😂.

My full title was Text Processing Supervisor and apparently some of the section heads told their staff not to fall out with Norah, they would regret it for the rest of their working lives if they did😰

I didn’t see your email until much later but I had spotted the errant missing comma within10 seconds of looking into the Forum, the bird of prey antennae are still on the ball👏

I found this rather frustrating. I don't remember when I had so many answers with "well it's probably that".
Not at all sure about the second word in 19a. I can't find anything that parses, or indeed fits the overall definition.
Favourites 13a, 28a (a classic), and 29a.

19a the second word is “saucy thing”. Definition is a type of “recession”.

Thanks jono. I thought the first two letters of the first word must come from the saucy thing reversed. "Get on" for them is another that's a bit loose, though?
