Hi everyone

Can we leave the fooball out please. The thread is long enough.

I'm just bitter as I'm struggling. I thought I was doing well when I got five on the first read through. I've now done about half since 3.30pm (most of the top half) , but am struggling to parse several, including 19ac. I may have the wrong answer. I've just got 7d, so that may help.
Are my crossers for 19ac right? ?O?B?E???

My SW corner is mostly empty, but I'll go away and have another go. A hint for 15d might help. I'll be back.

Indeed Rocky, but for that catastrophe last week when we lost 3-2 to Chelsea after having been 2-0 up we'd have won 4 on the bounce and be level on points with Forest, albeit with a worse GD.

Speaking of points, aren't you guys 9 clear?

Your mention of the Graham era in an earlier post reminded of the 1-0 stick he used to get - like you get any fewer points for that!

Roof, crossers for 19 are right. Definition is "recession", parses as 2, 4, 3.

15 definition "that could help bank". Parses as 2, 3 (a term for "sovereign" that surprised me), 1, 3.

Apologies Roof, I wrote that last post while you were posting yours.

19a - yes, your crossers are right. It's 2 letter "get on" (as in 'how did you get on) then a 4 letter anagram and finally a 3 letter "saucy thing" - definition of a term used to describe a type of economic recession.

Apologies also Roof. I appreciate we've reached our limit this week. It's not a difficult puzzle. Seek out the anagrams then look for slightly lateral thinking definitions.

Thanks to Brendan and Jono for hints at 41 and 42 which gave me a start. I was definitely struggling and after a fairly good spell I’m struggling again . My north west corner is empty .
May have to leave it until tomorrow , where are all these anagrams!
No rain today — amazing.

Hi dhope
10a and 12a are fairly straightforward, and 14a is an anagram with one letter subtracted.

I failed to send my last message, which is just as well as I got some of the answers I was querying. I've just solved some more over dinner.

I'm down to three left: 23ac,17ac and 22d. I think I know the answer to 22d, but can't parse it. I'll try it and see if it helps with 23ac.

It worked and just got the last one. I was very disappointed that the answer to 7d wasn't tarantula.

FOI14ac, LOI 17ac and COD 21d
