Good fun I thought. Spotted the theme fairly early into the puzzle which helped with a couple of stragglers later on.
Thanks to Dan.

About two thirds done but once again Brockwell has delivered a masterclass here. Misdirection all over the place. Loved Carmen use in 21d. Just wanted to come on and say how much I am enjoying this. I daresay I will be back for help.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I usually do with Brockwell's puzzles.
Never heard the word at 16a, but Google confirms the meaning.

Two left - 27a and 24d. Hints, please?

27a requires a cockney interpretation of one word.
24d contains a contemporary boot manufacturer (3 letters).

For the last 3 letters of 4d, it might help if you ignore 2 letters of one of the words in the clue.

Just two left. Both 25s. I have an answer for 25a based on the first word of the clue but as I can't parse it at all I don't know if it is right.
