I'm confused by the earlier reference to Premier League regarding 1d.
If my 1a is correct, I have P _ _ _ C _ . No idea what he is getting at here and a hint would be a great help.

My other incompletion is the dreaded 9a. _ _ N _ E. I can think of a word that fits and parses 'crash initially blocking road' but can't see any relevance to the first part of the clue and no idea of what the def is.

May I second (third, "n'th") all that's been said above regarding this forum. It's always hugely helpful and supportive. Especially today, where I almost gave up in disgust earlier.

1d - 3 letter "china" (rhyming slang) + 3 letter "one" - definition is a specific "Premier League team"

9a - 1 letter "crash initially" goes inside/'blocking' 4 letter "road" - definition is "Stroll round track" with Stroll being an actual person (he was actually on TV today!)

All your letters are correct.

Sorry, "China" isn't rhyming slang but just a normal slang term for the the first 3 letters.

It derives from ‘China plate’ I think.

Cheers brendan, that makes perfect sense now. I'd never have got the 9a, since I don't watch/read about that activity at all. And I had looked (twice!) at a list of Premier sides and totally overlooked that one!

I know what you mean Jono, but 'China plate' equates to a 4 letter synonym of the 3 letter word in the clue and that's why I corrected my entry, because I thought it might be unhelpful i Jvector was looking for a word that rhymes.
