I parsed it as 4,2, 4 letter young girls with last 2 reversed (rampant) followed by 2 from the clue though I'm far from an expert!

Absolutely RogerM and I totally agree on both counts (it is a beast and this is an excellent forum). Having started yesterday afternoon I have managed to complete most of top half,think I have 5d but stuck on 12a . Will battle on later today and hope to complete before next Saturday!

Appreciated the help so far- just the spoonerism left. Any more hints for this please? I have _R_E/B_L_ so I imagine after spoonerised there must be an operation that could also be applied to tea.
