Gitto, it really is worth looking carefully at the preamble. Kea could have expressed it in several ways. You would do well to consider why he chose the wording he did

Like you, quisling, I was struck by the distinctive wording of the "Solvers must ... " sentence and I am sure it must mean something very specific. As to what that might be, I'm still trying to figure it out.

I have located 4 potential originators. However, for one of the names to work, a bar needs removing. This will create asymmetry. Am I therefore correct in thinking that I have the wrong originators, and therefore the wrong title?

I think you have the right originators lewap, as I think you have to do something weird with the bars. But I remain mystified as to what that is, so I'm not 100% sure.

Loath as I am to criticise the great Kea, I'm now in the 'grid stare has taken longer than gridfill' zone, which is never good in my view.

Indeed, will37. It’s leading you towards what the final grid might represent. Two final observations: symmetry is observed throughout, and it might be worth putting in all the bars you can, and then seeing if anything emerges, before deleting the ones that aren’t thematic

This weeks inquisitor is very much the same in that the grid fill is quite easy. Unfortunately I now have 2 grids to stare at.

Ha! I think I've spotted it! Was focused too much on the more thematic meaning of 'bars'. As Quisling said...
I do have a bit of a gripe though. 3 of the bars on the lh side of the grid don't really work for me when rotated to the rh side.
Unless of course I have missed something...

I have now also spotted it I think, and I agree lewap that three of the bars in the RHS seem a bit odd.

Are we left with proper words at the end? This is proving much harder than it first seemed. I have tried teasing hidden meanings from the important sentence in the Preamble, but light refrains from dawning.

No Jockie.
Do as Quisling suggested. Draw in all the bars. Then...refrain...
