Morning all.
Didn’t know the undergarment at 26. Now do. Will probably have forgotten it by tomorrow.
11 can only be one thing, I think, but I don’t understand why. I assume it’s a CD, but if so it feels tenuous at best. Am I missing something?
Nevertheless I enjoyed this.

Rogissimo, like you I can only see one possible answer from the crossers, but it's not a pairing of words that I am familiar with and I have no idea what the def in the clue is. All I have is a US word for biscuit and someone who might take things. Possibly a cultural reference that flew over my head?

Quite tricky today I thought. No primary or other Everyman trademarks that I can see.

Rather liked the Pauline clue which we do t often sew on a Sunday.

7d is a bit weak, COD 13d for the "fruit maybe."

Thanks Everyman

Hi Rog,

This was my least favourite clue. The best I could come up with is that a person who is a (2nd word of answr) of biscuits is going to be someone who 'regularly takes the biscuit'.

I know, doesn't make much sense, does it? Maybe someone has something better.

Also...

25a - Is the answer "outside" H&M? Not from where I'm looking!

Brendan I had the same quibble about 25a, I also didn't understand what duty the word "branches" is doing.... I assumed it was just me not getting it!

Hi Justsolve,

The best I could come up with is that "branches" is referring to the outer vertical lines in the letters - problem is though is that the exact same 'branches' are also on the inside as is the ......

I have to have a minor operation on my little finger tomorrow at 16a - I really do hope the 19a are not 17a

I see…
H and S
S and B
B and O
S and S
…and then H&M

Coincidence?

Hi Jono,

I agree that is a lot instances, but don't see how they connect to the actual clue as they don't seem to be referenced in it or even alluded to.

I’m most familiar with 11d in business usage meaning taking a one-size-fits-all approach to a problem.
“Take the biscuit” (figuratively) means the most remarkable or foolish of its kind, but here we have to interpret it literally. I don’t think there’s anything more to it than that.
