Brendan @16 - I think the meaning is actual physical "branches" of the business, if you were outside these you would see the characters in question.

Thanks Nodrog, that makes much more more sense.

Phil1000, Thank you! I love the camaraderie of this group ( which has become an integral part of my Sunday morning routine) :-)

Phew - that was a struggle! I’m very much a newbie but I think 3a is not a cartwheel - certainly wasn’t when I was young enough to do them!
I can’t fully understand answers to 10a and 25a. Some pointers from the group would be really appreciated. Many thanks

Thanks. 26a now sorted - it's not a term I knew, despite being a lady who has underwear. There are so many possible solutions that fit the letters to 11d. Would it be against the rules to tell me the first letter?

Helinglos, I'm not an Everyman regular - on the Forum - but I want to reassure you that it's perfectly fine to ask for the first letter (and indeed for an answer!).

I'm still not sure I have 15d right - my answer doesn't make a lot of sense.

I remember a TV programme in which Dennis Waterman got his PA to buy a 26 plus first letter as a birthday present for his teenage daughter, who was much more pleased with it than he expected!

More evidence that Everyman is getting tougher (or I am getting slower). But very enjoyable today. Still can't really fathom 11d parsing.

Liked 23a a lot. My COD.

“Lisp” generally implies s/th replacement. So if you were to say the solution with and s instead of th you might “catch something”.
