Thanks hw7, but it is the middle 5 letters that are eluding me - and I know what the extra letter is!

More outer letters needed - not just 2!

This was really fun, love the theme!

Can anyone help me with a hint or two for the parsing of 34a and 3d? Can see what they're supposed to be but the wordplay isn't quite clicking for me.

lemon - 34a wordplay is a one letter abbreviation followed by a 5-letter 'exposed' with a drug inside
3d - you need a word meaning 'lines in four parts' to take something out off.

Thank you jbird! Yes I see 34 now -- I always forget that one letter abbreviation.

And I had actually already parsed 3d and forgot my own solution! But I appreciate the help regardless.

I reverse engineered several of the answers from what the final grid had to be.

Can't see 12d, grateful for a steer. Can't see if it's a jumble or not.

All done now with a big PDM as to how to correct the misidentifications. I was mightily happy to find a word that fit 3d in the final grid!!
