Keepers, I'd seen the word fairly recently - and it's a memorable word anyway! I seldom parse things - I sometimes try for other people - but with this, I saw the Heroin inside the Judge and and I saw the Rum, so that was enough.

This short clue is eluding me:

Make out fish in a river (6)

My guess is that the definition is "Make out" (but in what sense of that phrase?).

And I think I'm looking for a fish inside a river (or perhaps a fish inside A and R). But there are quite a few fish and rivers to work with, and nothing is jumping out at me. Help appreciated!

It’s an anagram (“easy”) of three words from the clue and two first letters…

Not still getting it. Is the definition "when one is competent" or "easy". ?Three words + two first letters may be - GENIUS AS O O TO (one often first). Still unable to decipher it.
