Thanks for dropping in, Brockwell.

I must apologise for my lack of knowledge of the trio in13a - I haven't listened to "pop" (in the restricted sense) for about 50 years!

Thanks for the puzzle Brockwell. Thematically one of the most fun and comprehensively linked I can remember for a while. All finished now and I learned a couple of new word son the process. (Unfortunately) very familiar with aforementioned pop group due to my 80s childhood.

Possibly would have liked human as an answer somewhere but you can’t have everything can you

@paulrt - human would have been great. Cursing myself for not thinking of that one. B

Mmmm - "human" is from an old, rather racist, joke. I'm glad it wasn't included.

For those who don't know it:

"What do you eat, Rastus"
"Beans, Massa"
"What sort of beans, Rastus?"
"Human beans, Massa"

No, not acceptable!

I’m sure this play on words is not solely from this ‘joke’ Chrise, but thanks for sharing it anyway. I think when I saw it in The BFG I’d already heard the pun elsewhere?

Thanks for popping in Brockwell, it's always good to hear from the setter.

Geeker has already corrected my obviously incorrect 'mini theme' reference. All I can say in my defence is that, as regulars on here will know, I am notorious for completely missing themes altogether, so the fact that I saw it at all is nothing short of miraculous.

Been otherwise engaged today. Early ko at the Emirates then back home for dinner so only halfway through. I just felt compelled to say if you get the chance watch the documentary about the pop trio (duo). Think it was Netflix but not sure. You don't need to give two hoots about who they are. Just a hilarious watch.
