Hi Chris,

13a - is tricky because it looks, at first sight, like a partial anagram. Then, when you do see the 'pop trio' reference you're first thought will be 'hold on, surely that was a duo'.

Anyway, the 'pop trio' goes arount 3 letter 'top' as in 'who finished 'top' or .....

Pop trio is 4 letters surrounding 3 letters for top.

Thanks both. By taking out the "top" I've worked out who the pop trio must be, but I've never heard of them. A bit obscure, surely?

Thanks Chris,

I suppose a lot depends on ones age and musical tastes. I do remeber them having a single in the 80's that was always on the radio, or so it seemed at the time. They also made 3 studio albums, all of which charted in the top 20 in the UK, but rarely made a dent in the US.

I;m assuming that's a reference to one of their songs?

Chris, first 4 letters of 12a and first 6 letters of 21a are thematically related. But I had to google to figure out the latter (actually used the first 5 letters but the "AI" bailed me out).

Some of the thematics are disguised. Maybe the biggest stretch, but I include 25 although it's only the first four letters of one.
