When the whole family went back to bury my Mum, while there we did go to Avoca in Wicklow to see where Ballykissangel was filmed.

It was such a beautiful place.

The postman is still the same - we got Eircode here a few years back and the postmen studiously ignore it - it only facilitates the blow-in couriers.

Courtown was a Mecca for us Wickla lads. The equivalent north of Dublin was Laytown - we preferred to Court, honest😜

We've been to Avoca. It's where the "meeting of the waters" (as in the song) is. A muddy stream meets a clear stream, and they remain unmixed for a considerable distance downriver.

Park Royal is near Acton, whose many stations featured in a Guardian crossword recently:

I should add that we didn't know it was Ballykissangel until we got there, and it wouldn't have registered anyway as we had never seen it!

Bren, that’s a date - won’t be immediate, we have a wedding in about 6 weeks. At least we don’t have to travel to Majorca for this one (wedding invitation is like being handed a bill). The missus has me on a strict diet in the hope I’ll squeeze into my suit. Doubtful, so more expense.
