Last one in was 3d after 10a gave me another letter. Not expecting those two vowels in that order. Liked 19d although I imagine it is quite a common setter pun.

Jono and Rogissimo.

Even though it held me up for some time, I always like it when a wrong answer still parses. I like to think the setter does it deliberately. Only Brendan can reveal if that was the case.

Rocky,
There’s a term borrowed from chess puzzles for an acceptable answer which is not the intended one.
I wish I could remember what it is… Geeker may know.

Not a specific person, rather the name forms offset of the anagram fodder.

'part ' not 'offset' - have no idea how those two words got mistaken!

I think Jono you need to remember that and we'll get it adopted as the same term for crosswords.

Strange that when I was typing the correction on my last post using Gboard glide typing, the first 2 attempts to write 'part' both once again produced 'offset' - as it just did again typing this - the letters aren't even that close together!

Found it, it’s called a “cook”.

It very rarely happens but from now on I will refer to any clue that still parses a wrong answer as a 'Cook'. And woe be tied anyone who asks me what i mean ;-)
